Humano en el bucle (HITL)

HITLconcept

Human-in-the-Loop es un diseño de sistema en el que se incorpora deliberadamente el juicio humano, la revisión, los comentarios o la autorización en un proceso automatizado o impulsado por IA.

Technical explanation

Humans may label data, validate outputs, resolve exceptions, approve high-impact actions, provide feedback, or take control when thresholds are exceeded. Effective HITL design specifies who intervenes, what information they receive, response times, authority, escalation, and how their decisions are recorded.

Business relevance

HITL can reduce risk in ambiguous, high-impact, or low-confidence situations while preserving automation for routine work. It supports accountability and creates operational feedback for improvement.

Implementation example

An AI system drafts contract-risk findings but routes high-severity clauses and low-confidence results to qualified legal reviewers before any recommendation reaches a client.

Limitations and common misconceptions

Adding a person does not automatically create effective oversight. Reviewers may be overloaded, defer excessively to automation, lack context, or become a ceremonial approval step. Human review also adds cost and latency.
